Like the other pieces in the IC Light Series, the IC Lights S balances designer Michael Anastassiades’ love of industrial simplicity with intricate symbolism.
Providing diffused light through an opal blown glass diffuser, this pendant light is framed in brass-finished steel.
Inspiration behind the design: Poise is powerful: That’s the message Michael Anastassiades offers with his IC Light Series. From the skillful balance of the sphere and baton that invokes thoughts of a dexterous juggler’s act to the lamp’s name—IC, a reference to the identity code used to evaluate immigrants entering the UK—the designer makes a commanding statement.

Part of the Smithfield family, the Smithfield S manages to be both grand and unassuming. Halogen & LED versions. Providing direct light through its aluminum body, it is well suited for a variety of environments. Available in black, matte black, mud and white. Its diffuser is injection-molded opalescent PC (polycarbonate).
The steel ceiling attachment features a steel suspension cable, and the three-pole electric cable is PTFE double insulation.
Inspiration behind the design: Jasper Morrison is known for his ability to take the beauty that he sees in the world around him and translate it into his work. To that end, the Smithfield family was named for the Smithfield Market in London, where the artist was inspired by the industrial nature of the fixtures he saw. “I’ve always liked the industrial and functional character of these lights,” he says. “I wanted to make a project out of them, looking for some way of making use of their efficiency in delivering light, and the forms themselves which are so much a part of the good atmosphere of industrial spaces.”
